[ubuntu_mate] "This site can't be reached"

    Hey guys,

I recently installed a UEFI instance of Ubuntu MATE (17.10), after previously having a BIOS version of 17.04. Upon the first boot, I recall being able to use Ubuntu just fine. However,...
  3. [all variants] Re: Unknown Monitor on Ubuntu 15.04 and Nvidia 352?

I'm not using both. I just meant I tried one with the issue, and tried the other with the same issue.

Interestingly enough, I brought in an additional 1080p monitor from work and it detects that...
  4. [all variants] Re: Unknown Monitor on Ubuntu 15.04 and Nvidia 352?

I'm definitely only using HDMI or DVI-D here. The 970 doesn't even have a VGA port.
  5. [all variants] Re: Unknown Monitor on Ubuntu 15.04 and Nvidia 352?

I tried doing this installation again one more time. I tried installing 352, 349, and 346, all of which are failing on me using the xorg-edgers ppa.
  6. [all variants] Re: Unknown Monitor on Ubuntu 15.04 and Nvidia 352?

Hmm, seems like now it's conflicting with Nouveau. I guess I could restart this and go with xorg-edgers ppa.
  7. [all variants] Re: Unknown Monitor on Ubuntu 15.04 and Nvidia 352?

I used this PPA. I don't believe xorg was fully maintained.

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mamarley/nvidia

The installation was as per this blog post.

    Hey guys,

I recently installed the latest Ubuntu on my custom-built computer. This is the spec sheet of my parts.

[ubuntu] Re: [emerg] bind() to [::]:80 failed

So at the very top, I saw this.

    listen 80;
    listen [::]:80 default_server;

It was commenting the second line and replacing it with "listen 127.0.0.1:80". I can also view localhost...

[ubuntu] Re: [emerg] bind() to [::]:80 failed

I'll take a look into that when I get home tonight. I don't believe I have any ipv6 setups, and I'm only using nginx as a local test server.

[ubuntu] Re: [emerg] bind() to [::]:80 failed

    username@ilose-ubuntu:~$ sudo netstat -nltup | grep :80
    username@ilose-ubuntu:~$

There is no output. I was pretty sure I uninstalled apache2 if it was there. When I try to start apache or...

[ubuntu] [emerg] bind() to [::]:80 failed

I think this might likely have been answered before, but I just made a fresh install of Ubuntu and attempted to install nginx. When I attempt to run sudo service nginx default, I get this.

  13. [ubuntu] Installed wrong drivers, now sound is not playing

    Hey guys,

I've noticed that my sound quality is really horrendous in Ubuntu (in comparison to the Windows 7 installation, which isn't as bad), so I wanted to try to fix it by installing better...
  14. [ubuntu] Re: Can't upgrade to Firefox 5 via. PPA - Ubuntu 10.10

Thought you guys might want to know that I fixed this by removing all Firefox PPAs, uninstalling Firefox, then reinstalling it via. the PPAs.
  15. [ubuntu] Can't upgrade to Firefox 5 via. PPA - Ubuntu 10.10

I was asked to create a new thread by a moderator. Just to refresh,

    - I am using Ubuntu 10.10, and cannot upgrade to Firefox 5.

    Can't upgrade to Firefox 5 - Ubuntu 10.10

    Hey guys,

Update Manager is holding back the Firefox 5 update due to the following reason.

    Changes for the versions:

  21. [ubuntu] Ubuntu Wireless... Ugh (HP G56-128CA)

I was wondering if there was a more reliable driver for my computer which I struggle to find. I experience very frequent disconnections and it's so annoying I have to use ethernet where...
  22. [ubuntu] Re: Can't boot, Regular OR Recovery Mode (Meerkat)

I pulled this off from some of the lines of "warning."

  23. [ubuntu] Re: Can't boot, Regular OR Recovery Mode (Meerkat)

Grub isn't the problem, and it doesn't seem like it ever was the problem. I'm pretty sure now it was just my ext4 /dev/sda5 drive that had Ubuntu had some bad sectors or something. Thus, your first...
  24. [ubuntu] Re: Can't boot, Regular OR Recovery Mode (Meerkat)

    Thanks for that.

So I ran fsck, but I couldn't do graphical boot. The bad sectors on the partition seemed to screw over a few of the things to do that, so how do I go about now to repair boot and...
  25. [ubuntu] Re: Can't boot, Regular OR Recovery Mode (Meerkat)

Ignore my last post, I did it wrong. After checking the filesystem of my ext4, my file system is not clean, but how does it get fixed?
