OK, I will stick with ext4. these files are primarily accessed through samba shares anyway. thanks for your help.
You think fat32 would be better?
No, none. It just did not mount the partition.
sudo mount -o uid=1000,gid=1000,umask=022 /dev/sdb1 /mnt did not work
sudo mount -o uid=1000,gid=1000,umask=022 /dev/sdb1 mounted the drive but again, I still dont have permission to create /...
here is the output of mount: (it looks like this is an NTFS partition)
/dev/sda1 on / type ext4 (rw,errors=remount-ro,commit=0)
proc on /proc type proc (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
none on /sys...
You are correct. it was /dev/sdb1 or /media/sdb1 once mounted.
I unmounted and mounted using the following command as you suggested:
sudo mount -o uid=1000,gid=1000,umask=022 /dev/sdb1

I have a 1TB drive that is used to keep photos, movies, documents, etc. This is currently mounted as:
/dev/sdb
My user account has no rights over the drive and I am therefore unable to add...
Hey guys, long time no post. :(
Has K or anyone else made a script to check for new google voice messages? Seems to me that something similar to K's gmail script should be able to do the job.
That did it!
The second I saw the article I remembered doing this on the other computer. It is now bookmarked and saved. Thanks so much, marking as solved.
Yes, same version. One was a clean install of Natty the other an update.
I probably am missing a theme that handles the transparency correctly. What theme are you using on the one that has the...
That article makes the whole panel transparent, icons and all. My issue is just with the notification area and separator. I must have set up dozens of machines this way and have never run into this...
Hey guys, having a small issue here with gnome panel and after beating my head up against a wall for a day or so decided to come ask the experts.
I made gnome-panel transparent by selecting...
Wow! Thank you Vanessa Ezekowitz!!!
The deb file posted in comment 20 worked for me and I now have my nice minimal glass boarders back.
Since the upgrade to 11.04 Emerald themes have not been working for me. I use emerald --replace to load the theme, tried different themes but have had no success. The window decoration actually...
Oh good catch. I didn't see that at the top of the config file.
Usually adding the delay to make sure X fully loads resolves this issue but if you added a 50 second delay, that should be more than enough time. Unless you are running on a beater.
Eh, not sure. Your config worked for me well enough. See attached.
Like others said dafont.com should take care of you. I would like to think that MOST people who put conkys together will try to use a font that is easily available or otherwise make it available.
Play with these settings:
####
## Gap between text and screen borders.
#
gap_x 10
gap_y 28
Try putting a 30 second delay in your start conky script. See: http://conky-pitstop.wikidot.com/howto-s#toc3
Go to your home folder and hit Cntrl+h this will un-hide the folders that have a period (.) in front of them. You should then see the folder .fonts, you can then drag the fonts into that folder and...

Thanks.
Can't find the answer to this anywhere. When I hit Cntrl+Alt+F4 to exit out of Gnome, what is the command to get back to it without restarting my computer?
