    You can use persistence on the live USB but you'll find it easier to install to the USB stick and run the OS there, just as you would install to an internal drive.

    Ubuntu uses a swap file now rather than a swap partition.

    Yes, 10Gb RAM so your system is probably using 2Gb for video RAM.
    You are currently using 1.7Gb RAM to run the OS (When the command was ran).
    You have 2Gb of swap space.

    Note that Ubuntu 16.04 is end of life (EOL) in April next year. You may want to upgrade to Bionic (Ubuntu 18.04) soon.
