    [SOLVED] Re: Gwibber!

try using your facebook account name instead of email address for the login. I tried that in conjunction with deleting the ~/.cache/gwibber folder and was finally able to add facebook.
  2. [ubuntu] Re: computer drops to low graphics mode after powersave

So, I re-enabled the power saving mode for the monitor under the power preferences and got the crash again. Here's the tail-end of the xsession-errors file from after the crash:

  3. [ubuntu] Re: computer drops to low graphics mode after powersave

I guess I should have mentioned, I am running desktop effects, but set at normal and not playing any 3D games. I primarily use this box for web browsing and MATLAB based data acquisition, so the...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: computer drops to low graphics mode after powersave

I'm thinking there is a bug with the gnome-power-manager on powering down the monitor. What video chipset are you using?

My computer in question is running an Intel 945 video chipset.
  5. [ubuntu] Re: computer drops to low graphics mode after powersave

Actually, I am having a similar problem, it's just fairly random in occurance. Some days, I will turn off the monitor when I leave the lab for the night and come back and all is well, but other...

[ubuntu] Re: Facebook won't add to gwibber

I did the change mentioned in the bug comment and was then able to get my facebook account working. I only set my timeouts to 30 seconds each, however.

[photography] Re: A batch job compatible Photo manipulator

    http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Basic_Batch/

The GIMP can do it, you just have to create a script of what you want it to do. I've never worked with enough photos for it to be a significant...

Re: You know you're a geek when........

You know you're a geek when you talk about MATLAB in your sleep.

Re: Best Audio Player in Ubuntu

AmaroK is probably one of the main reasons I use KDE.

If you're into the old 2.x series WinAmp (when it was totally free), XMMS is the closest I've used. That said, I didn't totally like it...
  12. Re: Programming against design, who is the best?

I have no argument that readability isn't part of design. I was just referring to where artUA mentioned gradients and graphics versus core programming.

I've written a CLI database for a final...

  14. Re: Programming against design, who is the best?

It can really depend on the application and its purpose/audience. A program designed exclusively for industry use, for example a monitoring terminal in a factory where strict readability and...

    Re: Iron Man compiz theme

That's something I've been working on. Since I posted that screen, I've modified the background a bit -- after realizing the arc reactor was actually in a running program I decided to turn the layer...

So, I was a little later than I initially thought in getting the screenshot together, but here's a little eye candy.

[kubuntu] Re: Installing Kubuntu on x86-64

Okay, so I solved the problem by just expanding the root partition as I mentioned I might do.

It seemed that the installer copied everything over before installing the packages and deleting the...

[kubuntu] [SOLVED] Installing Kubuntu on x86-64

Maybe I'm just missing something here, but is there no way to select the software that gets installed on Kubuntu 8.04? I am doing a clean install as an upgrade from 7.10, which had no problems with...

Poll: Re: Is it disc or disk?

I've always thought it to be this way. But, my vote is for always using disk. Disc came out with the CD back in the 80s (before my time, but that's beside the point).

    On the other hand, there...

    Re: Iron Man compiz theme

So, I spent a few hours whipping up a similar background. It's by no means facsimile to the movie, but it's definitely "inspired by" the computer Tony Stark used in the movie.

    I'm thinking that...
