Re: Question about VirtualBox, XP and legality

There are also restrictions against virtualising your OEM copy - you can't!

You can buy a separate license to virtualise but make sure it's Business or Ultimate or again, you're breaking the EULA.

Re: Question about VirtualBox, XP and legality

It will work but against the terms of your EULA.
  4. [gnome] Re: Flashing taskbar with gnome-terminal, screen and irssi

I'm trying to work this out too and it looks to be easy to do with one exception; the option to flash the terminal doesn't appear to be where it's meant to be:

[all variants] Re: Pidgin - Suspiciously uploading data?

I didn't notice any uploading from Empathy but I removed it a few months ago. I will try and do some testing if I have time this weekend.

I've not managed to do anything about this yet but I noticed just now that Pidgin is uploading again.

I thought I was the only one but glad it's not just me.

Do you have any details of where...

[all variants] Re: Pidgin - Suspiciously uploading data?

I've noticed there's a lot of data going up to xxxxxxx.phx.gbl too.

This also seems to be owned by Microsoft.

I found out a little more info on this page but it's old info:...

[all variants] Pidgin - Suspiciously uploading data?

I wasn't sure if this should go in the networking sub-forum but figured as it wasn't specifically related to the network.

I've been noticing that when I'm not doing anything on my PC, there's...

[ubuntu] Re: File transfer to USB key too slow in Karmic.

Some more info - After reading someone's response about using the shell to copy files, this does seem to work for me but during testing I noticed something.

When a file first transfers, latency...

    Re: Thunderbird 3 - How to re-index?

It appears I'm confounding downloading and syncing of email with indexing.

Whilst download/sync does download the email - it doesn't appear to index them as they did during the migration from TB2...

[ubuntu] Re: File transfer to USB key too slow in Karmic.

I'm having this problem too. It takes a long, long time to copy large files to a USB memory stick.

Anyone have any fixes for this?

I've also noticed that latency goes through the roof when the...
  17. Poll: Re: Discussion: Create Longer Release Cycles for Ubuntu

Have you considered installing any given version of Ubuntu 6 months after release? By then a lot of bugs will have been ironed out.

I'm pretty sure if you did this, your next complaint would be...

    That's great - thanks for that cor2y!
