For those that don't know and wonder - the cuddly creature is a Zerg Hydralisk (... at least I think it is a hydralisk, long time since I played :P) from the...
Hi.
I recently bought a Lenovo G550 laptop, and to my large disappointment this model has a fan problem where the bios controlled fan only has two possible speeds, fully on or off. The fan is...
Mine is a pirate hydralisk. I have no idea why really. I guess I was thinking about Starcraft the days after joining the forums :P
The pirate hat was edited in on last years talk-like-a-pirate day.
This is what my desktop has looked like for the most part of the past weeks. It might not be that beautiful, but it's easy on my strained eyes :P
Not that I have a solution, but just wanted to confirm this problem.
My computer also freezes with a blank screen with a blinking _. After a reboot grub loads again and I get into Ubuntu.
At the...
First use that (ab)^2 = a^2 * b^2
(16/9 * x)^2 is thus (16/9)^2 * x^2. After this you can solve for x
(16/9*X)^2+x^2=299.29 <-> (16/9)^2*x^2 + x^2 = 299.29 <-> x^2 * ((16/9)^2+1)=299.29 <->...
"Controls" is Darklooks and "Window border" is mist.

It looks greyt.
As far as I know - no it's not. That would require the receiving side to be able to decrypt the traffic, and this normally won't be the case for example when you are web browsing or using msn/irc.
That is probably true, yes.
Actually it's even worse ... it's FRA (Försvarets RadioAnstalt) that does it and they are even more secretive and less accountable than SÄPO. It does indeed suck a bit for Finland and Norway as...
Here in Sweden all traffic that crosses the nations borders are examined. Being such a small country a lot of every day internet using thus goes through those systems (for example this message just...
Hilarious. I guess this got a bit popular after BBC included it in their small segment on Belgium when discussing our new (EU) president.
This is my current:

When I started using Linux I used Gentoo but got pretty bored with all the compiling and once complained a bit about it to a friend. He then mentioned a few other distros, including Ubuntu. That, I...
My current. Went back to a more basic setup :)

I'd recommend Arch or some other "DIY"-distro. Since you already have Ubuntu it seems a bit too similar to choose something like fedora. Use the testing-partition to really try stuff out without fear...
At my university it depends on which department. The building where the computer science department is has about half of all the computer labs as linux labs running debian.
When I started studying...
I change desktop and theme more often than I change underwear :P. Trying to get a stop to it by only allowing a change once per week :lolflag:

I've decided only to allow myself to switch wallpapers and themes once per week now, so for this week I'll be stuck with this purple stuff :P
Ubuntu.se are not doing anything illegal even if it might breach US laws. If anyone in the US downloads and uses it they are the ones doing the illegal thing, not ubuntu.se. Ubuntu.se follows Swedish...
I was close to doing the same think a week or so ago. In the last second the thought occured to me that I think I've manually removed the .deb and that it might mean that it will remove the whole...
Really nice.

Feels clean and slick :)
As the previous speaker I haven't read it all and thus apologize if I'm repeating.
I'm quite fine with the release cycle - as long as you are aware of the potential problems it might bring it...
