  1. Re: MiFi router web login is all linux jargon.

    So you are asking here because what you see looks like Linux stuff. Makes sense.

    It may well be Linux stuff, because I see linux-like error messages referring to stuff in /us/lib. Lua is a...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: I can Ping & SSH into my Raspberry Pi from windows but not from Ubuntu

    Doesn't work covers a lot of possibilities. Try

    ping <address of the pi>
    nc -v <address of the pi>
    and post the results.

    [SOLVED] Re: Can't connect through any IP ports

    It's only listening on its loopback address, which is unreachable from outside the machine. It's not listening on 10.0.0.2 (or 0.0.0.0 which means all addresses). So the connection is being refused...

    [SOLVED] Re: Can't connect through any IP ports

    Installing a firewall won't help - it'll just complicate things.
    If you want to see what ports are listening, use:

    sudo ss -lntp
    but the output is ugly - looks better if you do

    sudo ss -lntp...

    Re: Problem connecting via ssh

    Try the ssh connection from B, then on B run the command "ip neighbor". Make sure the MAC address for A matches the MAC address that the command "ip addr" on A. I'm wondering of you have two machines...

    Maybe a dumb question but is user able to log on locally at machine a?
  7. [lubuntu] Re: MSPaint-like program: your recommendations?

    I recently found mtpaint which may suit you. It is surprisingly fast. It needs more undo memory allocating than the default (in settings).

    [SOLVED] Re: Can't get IPv6 to work

    That looks like a firewall is blocking the outgoing request.

    [SOLVED] Re: Can't get IPv6 to work

    That's odd. According to the ifconfig output above, you don't have an interface wlp1s0, but dhclient is complaining about it. I don't think I would know what to do about that other than try:

    sudo...

    [xubuntu] Re: tracking down the source of traffic

    If it's a brief connection then it will be difficult to catch with lsof or netstat. You will improve your chances if you use iptables to block the connection. Then the connection will get stuck in...
  11. Re: Connecting windows 10 computer to Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS

    If you are both on the same wireless network then the route's public IP is the wrong one to use. You can find Ubuntu's IP with the command
    hostname -I, and with windows, probably with ifconfig.

    [SOLVED] Re: Can't get IPv6 to work

    I'm not familiar with how interfaces get given an IPv6 address, but I can see that your interface has not been configured with a routable IPv6 address. The address that it does have (fe80::...) is a...
  13. Re: How do I compare 2 csv files and pull out the same in both

    Yes, I made a pig's ear of reading the files. Sorry. Here's a tested version:

    #!/usr/bin/python3

    import os

    # Read a file and make a dict of hash to list of paths
    def readFile(fname):
    ...

    OK, I'll knock up a couple of test files tonight and give it a try.
  15. Re: Netflix tcp_sack vulnerability hosing things

    @BatteryKing: While you are looking at those window problems, have a look for a window scale option. It's just possible that this has been mis-implemented at one end - and maybe your end is not...

    [ubuntu] Re: few problem i had when trying ubunto

  17. Re: How do I compare 2 csv files and pull out the same in both

    Try this untested bit of code.
    It reads the files into a dict mapping hashes to lists of paths. Then prints any duplicate hashes found within each file.
    Then it compares the two dicts looking for...

    Re: no longer root user?

    You are backing up to exfat??? Don't!
    Exfat cannot store Linux file properties and permissions. It doesn't generally matter for user data, but for system files, your restore won't work.
    I recommend...

    Oh yes!
    Changing the ownership of files in /etc (or other system locations) will bork the system. Thoroughly. Some programs will refuse to do things because permissions aren't right. Some files...

    Re: ubuntu 18.04 LTS frezzes

    /var/log/syslog is probably the one you want to start with, but there may be others. You can ignore all the *.gz files - they are compressed copies of old messages.

  24. Re: Networking issue - unable to ping 8.8.8.8 etc
