  1. Sticky:Poll: Re: Sticky:Poll: Share with us your Eaon Installation/Upgrade experience:

I did multiple installs (of Ubuntu plus various flavours) during final testing. The majority installed without issue. I think I had one or maybe two show-stopper bugs, but these were sorted before...

Re: Warty Warthog 15 Years Celebration!

I started with 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) in 2007; I joined the forums a couple of days later because I got a software install error which required some command-line magic with apt-get to solve. The rest, as...

    [ubuntu] Re: Error with Wifite

    Thread closed.

WiFite is a penetration testing tool. Although your intentions may be good, we don't support such programs, even though they may be in the repositories, because of the potential for...

    Re: Daily iso's are uploaded

Sounds like the fossa isn't quite as big as I'd imagined, so maybe not quite as scary as I thought. I once had a rather large cat who weighed 6.5 kg and I wasn't scared of him. But I think the local...

    Re: Daily iso's are uploaded

I'm also still catching my breath after the Eoan final testing.

Plus, real life has thrown some distractions in my way. As I'm getting paid for one of them, I'm not complaining. :)

    As for...

  10. Re: The codename for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS will be Focal Fossa

I don't think I want to run into one on a dark night. 8-[

Edit: All the more so, now that I've seen the picture.
  11. Re: The codename for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS will be Focal Fossa

I would have said that a fossa was a ditch, but apparently it actually is an animal.

Just goes to show — jump to conclusions and fall into a fossa ditch. :)

I'll leave you with mc4man; they know far more about these things than I do.
  14. [all variants] Re: What is the use of the SIM slot in my laptop?

You could post the output of that command here, between code tags. Someone should be able to decipher the output.
  15. [all variants] Re: What is the use of the SIM slot in my laptop?

    You could try

    sudo lshw

and see if there's anything interesting in the output. There might already be a 3G or 4G card installed, or an indication of an empty slot where one might go.

  17. [all variants] Re: What is the use of the SIM slot in my laptop?

I have a single-board computer (setup as a router) which has a SIM slot. It's intended to work with a 3G card which can be installed in one of the internal card sockets.

    Maybe your laptop is...

    Re: Writers! Proofreading Tools?

[SOLVED] Re: Anyone else using QEMU/KVM for testing?

For what it's worth, I've installed Kubuntu in a VM and it's running very nicely. No graphics problems of the sort that were showing up with standard Ubuntu. It does seem that Gnome 3 might be the...

[SOLVED] Re: Anyone else using QEMU/KVM for testing?

As it turned out, I was prompted to file a bug against qemu-ga. Which is a little tricky to do when your graphics have frozen. :) However, we got there in the end.

    The testing VMs don't currently...
