client ntlmv2 auth = yes
to smb.conf

and mount is with cifs rather than smbfs

i suggest you start a new thread about
include your setup
your grub file
and the output of the terminal command

sudo fdisk -l

It seems highly unlikely that you would be able to infect a Vista partition from Ubuntu unless you are trying really hard.
In theory you could download something and put it in a shared partition...

one thing you could try is to install ubuntu again
when ubuntu installs properly you should have access to both windows and ubuntu.
