    We have recently upgraded a system HDD - it was 160GB, now 2TB. We upgraded as we were running low on space, mainly on /usr, and also on /home.

    I prepared the new drive with a Live CD and GParted....

    I suppose Shotwell is not any use to you - as tags are stored in the iptc metadata rather than exif.
    apart from that though it does what you want - view and tag multiple files at once, very nice...
