I have just upgraded my home theater PC from LTS 16.04 to LTS 18.04.1.
Since then, my X session freezes once a day, but with mouse still working.
Nothing is showing consuming CPU...

By adding DNSMASQ_EXCEPT=lo in /etc/default/dnsmasq and restarting services I solved this issue ;)

Switching to rtlwifi seems to fix it for me.

Switching to rtlwifi_new seems to fix my issues :
