As I look more at this (comparing it to another install of eeebuntu which work), it appears that the problem lies in the

Right. However, in this case I have a trusted environment. Also, shouldn't it still work with xhost +. Going for least restrictive first.
Is there something within ubuntu that stops this from...
Same result. I should mention that there was an error in my original post, the command I am trying to use is:
$ sol --display=:0.0
I forgot the ':' in the original post.
I also forgot to...
This seems similar to questions that have already been asked, but I have not been able to find the answer.
I would like to be able to have one local user connect to the X of another local user...
Do you mean running Windows XP from the SD card? I'd have to think about that a little. I would wonder about hardware / licensing issues when it comes to XP. It looks like there are at least a...
I thought that this was more of a BIOS issue, not a ubuntu issue. Are you using a different version of the BIOS?
I think this is correct. In addition to having grub, you will probably at least need the intraramfs with the sd card capabilities on the boot drive.
If you do not push F12, does the grub menu come up on normal boot?

I would expect that you will need to install Grub to the hard drive, not the SD card. In my case, I have Grub installed on a USB flash drive since that is also bootable on the Aspire One. The BIOS,...
I would think that you could install grub to the harddrive in the MBR. I would think that you could do this without destrying the recovery partition, but haven't tried it so wouldn't say for sure. ...
Bob,
Glad to hear that it seems to be working now. I have in mind in my reading that unixodbc normally needs to be installed becuase the others are more or less wrappers which eventually use...
I believe that I installed the ODBC stuff first, but they are both on now. A couple of thoughts:
What user are you using to run the admin piece? Also, where all do you have .iodbc.ini and...
Well, I've had some progress with my project, but I'm not sure how much help it's going to be for you. First, I was able to find that there is an environment variable MYSQL_HOST which is referenced...
Sorry, I missed the other file. The odbcnst.ini file is:

Legal Assistant = Installed
[Legal Assistant]
Driver = /usr/lib/odbc/libmyodbc.so
Setup =...
Thanks for the link. I will take a look at it. Below is my .odbc.ini file
[ODBC Data Sources]
mysql_db_pgm = Legal Assistant
[mysql_db_pgm]
Driver = /usr/lib/odbc/libmyodbc.so...
I do not have not put any "Keyword/Value" pairs in my installation. I would wonder if there might be a file permission issue on your '/usr/lib/odbc/libmyodbc.so' and '/usr/lib/odbc/libodbcmyS.so'...
I'm using eebuntu (close enough) with administrator version 3.52.6.
I'm guessing that the seg fault is caused by either an incorrectly addressed object or otherwise trying to do something with...
I'm having the same problem.

I think I understand now. My experience has been to normally install grub in the master boot record on the boot disk (/dev/sda) from the installation cd. You are correct in saying that very little...
I have added some additional information on using fdisk to accomplish this at

I've posted some information on my experience at

A lot of it is from the other howto already referenced...
The UUID of the sd card when placed in the reader will be the same as the SD card when not in the reader...this is true. In order to boot from the SD card, however, you will need to install the...
The way that I did it was to first boot from the SD card through the card reader, which is what it sounds like you are doing now. You will need a small pen drive to start the boot process when you...
I am finding that the sd card is slower than the internal drive by about a factor of 6 (when doing hdparm I get about 11.01 MB/sec out of the SD card and 62.88 MB/sec out of the internal platter...
