    [all variants] Re: Nettop-like server?

Give these a look while you're at it http://www.mini-box.com/Mini-ITX-systems-x86

If you want something very very light on power, look into the PC Engines Alix series.

In case anyone stumbles upon this (or OP is still watching), this is a known bug already reported in launchpad for quite some time.

    [SOLVED] Re: Remap .aspx extension

Well, mod_Rewrite does appear to do mapping of that sort, i mean there isn't actually a file or url for any of the urls on my site, they're being transparently remapped. So you could surely match...

    [SOLVED] Re: Remap .aspx extension

What you actually want is pretty urls, not rewriting the extension of an actual file.

If you take a look at some of the pages on my site, they all end in ".geek". That wasn't just apache rewrite...

My experience with tomcat extends only to installing the Subsonic streaming server 4 years ago, sorry :)

There must be some tutorials on servlet programming around here though.

[ubuntu] Re: Random crash with ubuntu server 8.10

Actually you're using 8.04 from the looks of your kernel version, but yea its LTS.

Got any weird add-in cards? Maybe a PCI disk controller card? Is your CPU fan going bad or just not moving?

[ubuntu] Re: Random crash with ubuntu server 8.10

The first step is to figure out the cause, try to trigger it somehow. Any idea when this started? Anything changed? Kernel upgrade maybe?

Is there any reason you are sticking with 8.10?

[ubuntu] Re: How To Enable Apache xml2enc.so Module?

Looks like you need development headers for apache portable runtime. On 9.10 the package name you'd want for that is libapr1-dev.

May also need the apache2 dev headers for the mpm you are using,...

[ubuntu] Re: Can't get correct output for .jsp

Rename it date.html and the browser should render it.

If you're doing java servlet programming you'll need tomcat or something running to serve the page.

[ubuntu] Re: 8.04.3 apache high load, locks up server

Those sections aren't redundant, depending on which mpm you are using (prefork or worker) apache only pays attention to one or the other of those sections, but both remain in the config.

[ubuntu] Re: 8.04.3 apache high load, locks up server

[ubuntu] Re: 8.04.3 apache high load, locks up server

Threaded (worker) is more efficient, but to do that you have to use threadsafe components and php is generally considered not threadsafe.

What web applications are you running?

[ubuntu] Re: 8.04.3 apache high load, locks up server

Yea prefork apache uses one process for each connection, and typically keeps a pool of processes alive so it doesn't get caught having to fork to handle a connection on the spot.

    I didn't realize...

What's your maxclient setting in apache? Check your apache2.conf file if you don't know.

Are you using prefork or threaded mpm? If you don't know which one, type "apache2ctl -V" in a terminal.

  25. [ubuntu] Re: Apache - MaxClients and ServerLimit - doesn't seem to set?
