Thanks h4xor66, you stated my thoughts as well!
I have had this problem several times and it has always been my sata cables. The cables may look okay but if the ends are not sitting just so-so they won't work. All it takes is a little bounce or...

"Bump"
I can output midi files thru the keyboard with rosegarden, but I do not want to drag my computer around. I just want the ability to add and remove midi files on my keyboard.
Here is the best way to install (at least for me) the latest driver. You may have to uninstall previous versions first. Then:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
Then:
sudo...
Install was okay, player is working. From a previous post I also installed alsa-oss package however that didn't change anything. There is no sound from other programs either so I believe the problem...
I want to be able to exchange data (midi files) between my computer and my Yamaha PSR-E403 keyboard. I'm hoping that someone knows if this is even possible in linux. I do not want to buy a windows...
Thank you kerry_s, that did it.
Workaround for: GPG Errors: If you get the following error message:
Run:
gpg –keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com –recv 3E5C1192
gpg –export –armor 3E5C1192 | sudo apt-key add -
sudo apt-get...
Have you tried /usr/bin/sensors? I'm not sure what your goal is by a manual start-up, since a daemon is a program running in the background. It seems to me that it would be best to have it start when...
From the terminal just run: sensors. Do you get anything from that? Are you running an applet for your sensors? Are you manually starting it or do you have it set to run automatically at each startup?
I did two things. Made an entry into /etc/fstab then I shut my computer down and checked the Sata cables. Fired it back up and now I have my cdrom back. Don't know which action helped, I'm just glad...
It is now showing up when I cd /dev and run ls. However wodim does not see any devices nor does kb3. Also tried an audio cd but it apparently was not seen either.
I ran eject -n yesterday with no results. Ran it again today and got:
~$ eject -n
eject: device is `/dev/sr0'
However when I manually checked /dev I was unable to locate sr0.
Nothing there, here it is:
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid -o value -s UUID' to print the universally unique identifier
# for a device; this may be used with UUID= as...
Nothing on my system sees my optical drive. K3b doesn't see it, wodim doesn't see it, also nothing when I run the following commands from the terminal: dmesg | tail , cd /dev ls. There is nothing in...
You might want to look at this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1554751.
Copied this from someplace quite some time ago. I use it and it works.
Enabling Hardware Sensors in Linux
1. Installing the sensor libraries
First thing’s first – you need to install the...
Maybe driver issues, but to be honest my first thought is hardware. Check other usb ports if possible. Is it plugged in before starting the computer or after? Little stuff like this sometimes makes...
Another vote for 64 bit. As for flash follow the advice that wojax gave. The 64 alpha version is still out there and it works. You have nothing to lose by trying the 64 bit version. If for some...
Just plug it in, go to the network manager icon and choose the open network connection of choice.
I believe that I had read somewhere (maybe this forum) that after changing to different hardware you had to reinstall. Maybe someone out there knows differently? I do know that I did this the last...
I use nautilus scripts more often for editing files as I am inclined to forget terminal commands and don't care to spend much time looking. Available at http://gnome-look.org/
If it doesn't already...
Is the driver enabled/activated in system/admin/hardware drivers?
Which version of driver and what version of card?
You don't say which nvidia card you have. If it is GE Force 6 and above you may want to consider the 256.35 display drivers.
Here is a tutorial that I used that I either got in this forum or the...
Here is how I fixed it.
Here is a copy of my config file:
Edit the line in red with your resolution. If the second line is not present add it and then save the file.
Next step is to open a...
