Thanks for the reply - I have since upgraded to 13.04 where all the xorg edgers stuff + kernel 3.8 w/brightness support is default.

I dont use the nvidia gpu because its not really that fast, and...

So brightness up/down is working for real now?

Regarding the freeze, do you get any useful information from dmesg?
(I'm running the same kernel on raring and don't see this issue)

    Btw, do you...

[ubuntu] Re: Asus Zenbook Prime UX31A and UX32VD

I've had a similar problem - for me it was related to nouveau vs bbswitch/bumblebeed/nvidia-current(from xorg-edgers).

Solution was to get rid of it all, and install these versions:

You should upgrade your kernel to 3.5 series (and to ubuntu 12.10)-

I use 3.6.5-030605 and it works great so far (albeit without brightness keys). I tried 3.7.0-rc4, but it introduces other problems like flickering screen, not always wanting to boot etc.

Keep it simple - forget about that internal SSD, and just install everything on a SSD that replaces the standard HDD.

The internal SSD is slow/small, and it isn't worth the extra work to install...

The capslock blinking error is related to a race condition on bt-usb, if I boot with a nano usb-receiver it will almost always crash. Remove the usb-receiver and it will boot normally again.
