  1. [SOLVED] Re: Installed Ubuntu 11.10, Kernel not working.

    Update:

I obviously had two big issues

1.) I had to add nohz=off to my GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT line

    and

2.) I had to reinstall the proprietary ati driver for my video card.

    Re: Kindle for PC /Wine

Oh, I hope someone figures out another solution to the OLE problem. Purging wine would be pretty unfortunate for me. I have quite a few wine apps installed.

    [ubuntu] Re: FGLRX wont install

I have the same problem as of today. I normally use the ati driver from ati's web site. But after the kernal upgrade today, I cannot install it anymore. I am looking for the root cause right now.

  4. [SOLVED] Re: Want wallpaper from Chromium/Google Chrome Theme

Yes, you can get it from this folder (note: I use chromium, but it should be similar for chrome)

    /home/USERNAME/.config/chromium/Default/Extensions

In this folder you will find all plugins that...

Not that this will help you a lot, but I just installed this driver as well and I get really good performance:

    Re: My apinion about Ubuntu

If you have a running system, why do you need to always upgrade? If you want to stick to a more stable system, then use the LTS releases.

Also, I didn't need to do a reinstall since Dapper Drake,...
  7. [SOLVED] Re: Not Able to Run Java Program From Eclipse

Did you try to compile the class first?
  8. [SOLVED] Re: Not Able to Run Java Program From Eclipse

it would be easier to help you if you could send a screenshot of your eclipse workspace with your class that you want to run open.
From looking at the error message I would assume you messed...
  9. Re: [JAVA] App works in windows but not linux

My first thought would be that your server (or better the user who owns the server process) doesn't have rights to create the image folders. I would check that first

Re: Setting Java Path HELP !!!

I agree with the first part of your post. The link should go into /usr/local/bin/

But I disagree on your second point. If you develop java software (and that is the main reason to install the jdk)...

    Re: browser wars!

You are missing the point here. MS is abusing its monopoly. That is the reason for the EU ruling. It doesn't have anything to do with your freedom or Linux or anything else.

Re: Setting Java Path HELP !!!

You can also just add a symlink:

    sudo ln -s /home/john/jdk1.6.0_17/bin/javac /usr/bin/javac
    sudo ln -s /home/john/jdk1.6.0_17/bin/java /usr/bin/java

If you go that route you might want to...

Somehow I have the feeling that most of the people here don't have a historical perspective.

Re: Problem with JAVA_HOME and Maven

I guess you beat me to it.

Just one note about your solution: You will still use the java executable from the jdk installation that you don't want, but all other java libs will be called from your...
  16. Re: Javascript, If expression withing style statement

This is not a proper style attribute. I don't think that any browser would know what that means.

I just skimmed through the CSS2.1 spec to make sure that it is not in there. You can find the spec...

Re: Problem with JAVA_HOME and Maven

I am not sure if I will be able to answer you. I installed maven manually because apt pulls in all these nasty dependencies (like gcj and ant).

But I think in the Ubuntu installed version the...
  18. Re: html/css - unwanted background appears (sometimes)

I just saw the white box you were talking about. It took me about 10 attempts to get it (clicking wildly around on the top level nav links).

I didn't quite find yet why it is doing it. It seems...

[ubuntu] Re: how do i load the default mouse driver?

Did you install a custom driver for your mouse? Did you compile a kernel with that driver? Or did you just change a setting somewhere in the configuration window?

Can you answer this as well?

Your output from the xinput command looks normal to me. I would assume that you are still using the default driver and you just changed a configuration setting.

    Re: Trac installation

    What about:

    sudo apt-get install trac

You might want to install apache2 or httpd first. I think trac doesn't require a web server to be running, but it just makes a lot of sense to have one.
