    the important first step is to just get some OpenGL code compiling.
    Start with a basic openGL example code, get "Hello World" working.
    then try OpenGL ES code.

    They changed to /etc/rsyslog.conf
    at some point.
    IT appears to be a different format.
    there is also configuration in the /etc/rsyslog.d folder
