hi. i want to install ubuntu on an externsal HD so i can run some tests without screwing up my main partition. the problem is that the installer only gives me one option: the internal HD which is not...
i tried that, and it worked. however, the line is so long that i had to copy it in pieces. here it is:
192.168.1.8:/volume1/data /mnt/data nfs4...
i just checked, it does show up in mtab. i can't post the line here because i don't know how to copy something out of nano.
if it is already mounted, shouldn't it show up somewhere? as far as i can tell, my NAS supports NFS 2, 3, 4 and 4.1. i'll try that.
doing that gives me the following output:
mount.nfs: timeout set for Fri Jan 12 11:05:32 2024
mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4.2,addr=192.168.1.8,clientaddr=192.168.1.64'...
hm, for some reason that wasn't necessary, because /data already appeared in /mnt. weird. is there another place where the NAS folder should be mounted? me, i don't really care where it is mounted...
hello. i want to auto-mount a folder on my NAS (a synology DS423+ with 4 2TB HDs, in case that matters) when i boot my system. for that purpose i have the following line in my fstab: ...
on my nas i have a folder called Backups which contains 2 more folders called Ubuntu and HomeAssistant. i tried mounting /Backups instead of /Backups/Ubuntu, with the same result. correct....
i created that directory and added ds423: to my hosts file, and then i said:
sudo mount ds423:/Backups/Ubuntu /media/Backups --rw and mount gave me the following error: "mount.nfs: access denied...
i've done that, and then i tried to follow the instructions in https://ubuntu.com/server/docs/service-nfs but it is quite confusing. for example, it tells me to
sudo mount...
hello. i recently got my new NAS up and running, installed DSM, created shared folders, all that jazz. the problem is that when i try to connect to it using NFS instead of SMB, i get an error:...

I remember editing some config files with ip addresses, bug I don't remember which files. There was something about networkmanager and netplan, but those files don't have any ip info. I have to say...
the problem is, none of the files in /etc that i checked had any IP info. where should i look?
i don't use DHCP, i set my IP addresses manually. it is set to use manual addresses. IP 192.168.1.64, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, router (gateway) 192.168.1.1, DNS server 192.168.1.6 (a raspberry pi...
I tried the settings app, of course, and I tried editing config files. But I can't find anything that says gateway 0.0.0.0
If you need the names of those config files, I'd have to check.
Every time I boot or restart my pc, Ethernet doesn't work because for some unknown reason the default gateway is set to 0.0.0.0 instead of 192.168.0.1. Then I have to go to settings -> network and...
I dunno why, but for the last few days my screen doesn't blank. I tried to change the timing in the settings app, but that didn't do me any good. What can I do?

hi.
i have 2 network problems:

i don't remember installing ifconfig. are you sure it didn't come with the raspberry pi version of 18.04?
anyway, ls /sys/class/net gives me the following output:
eth0 lo wlan0
ifconfig lists 2 interfaces: eth0: at 192.168.1.6 and lo: at 127.0.0.1
wifi is not configured.
i tried to put that into the config file, of course adjusting the info according to my system, and when i said:
sudo netplan --debug generate
it gave me this output:
DEBUG:command...
