You didn't say anything wrong ;)
The facts are that it is most definitely easier to install Ubuntu after windows, but I think his concern is losing his current data on the windows drive... if...
You mean in the GRUB menu? as in the list of operating systems you can boot to?

Do you have Desktop effect on too? Not to say that this is much better but have tried Gnash to see if it is the non-free plugin?

SSH! + NX CLIENT! (www.nomachine.com) = REMOTING GOODNESS!
Also you should mark this thread as [Solved]
Yeah I have a built in card reader and I must say that it really makes things simple. After that, you just buy whatever camera you feel like!
Sorry for the late reply... Did you ever get this working? I have a friend with the same problem and I was about to suggest ndiswrapper too but this may be "extreme" nowadays...
Just curious to...

and run through...
what happens when you go to system>administration>network and try to access the wireless that way?
what kind of television do you have?
Does it have an autofix setting (I have to do this with my monitor EVERY time a new computer gets hooked up to it, but then it works)
I honestly think there's not a huge issue in looking for a digital camera that would be compatible. Just about every camera has a USB cord these days that you can hook up to the computer. Ubuntu...
Yeah I have an ATI 256MB, if I want flash to behave full screen (and I'm a big YouTube fan) I have to turn off the compiz settings. :(
Dems da berries pretty much :frown:
Yeah just like lostlinuxkiwi said -- installing the compiz settings manager creates a new menu item in system>preferences>advanced desktop effects settings. You'll LOVE it! It's by far the best way...
it's always better to use add/remove or synaptic because you will always have your software up-to-date. I hardly ever resort to compiling it unless there's an update that I desperately want or if...
or as suggested before there's also mplayer.
sudo apt-get install mplayer
Heh Funny enough, the Hard Drive WAS failing - I guess Ubuntu knew something Windows didn't, a new hard drive (with a bit of coaxing) worked.
Also, I used the Ubuntu Alt Install.
