    I have 8.10 on disc, I can't update normally because I have no internet connection.

    It has no CD Drive but it does have a memory card slot.

    Will ubuntu run on a hand held computer? It's running windows at the moment and is rather old (>7years).

    I'm seriously just thinking about just install XP. I doubt I'd use ubuntu if I had it with XP as I'd play...

    I need to do this:

    sudo nvidia-xconfig
    sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
    startx

    How can I make it do this...

    I fixed the problem by deleting the nvidia packages and the nvidia kernel then re-installed my drivers.

    I used the program on nvidia's site to set the x config file for nvidia but when it doesn't work, so I typed startx into the terminal and it says that it can't find the screen.

    I need to set it to nvidia but I don't know how. The driver's installed, I had it earlyer today but the shutdown button wasn't showing so I went back to gdm. Now I don't know how to switch back.

    Ok, I know how to exit the x server "sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop" but it asks me to install the nvidia kernel, but when it tries to do that it fails to do so and exits the install.
