[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 and Tor

Tor is failing for some reason, you can restart it and watch the logfile - there
might be a clue as to why.

    Did you edit /etc/tor/torrc ?

Are you behind a restrictive firewall?

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 and Tor

    I recommend you take a look in the logfiles for both Tor and Polipo;
    /var/log/tor/log
    and
    /var/log/polipo/polipo.log

Make sure they don't report any errors.

[all variants] Re: Connecting in pidgin through pptp vpn

This reply is probably too late for the original poster, but hopefully
this will be useful to someone..
The solution seems to be to lower the MTU of your connecting. In my case,

Re: Make Firefox the Default Browser!

    Thanks for this one!

Isn't the fact that this is needed really a bug?

    Re: Legality of ripping dvds

If you pay to own something you should be allowed to do with it as you please,
if I buy a bottle of soda I shouldn't be forced to drink it just from the bottle - if I want

    Re: Canon iXXX in 6.06

Check the link in my previous post, it contains instructions to use the original
Canon drivers. I still can't get it to print in grayscale, but the quality is pretty good.

    Re: Canon iXXX in 6.06

This howto is slightly incomplete, or did not work for me. The only alterations
you will need are to add repositories for the libtiff and libpng libraries.

Re: Rip and shrink DVDs with K9Copy

Although it could be a typo I have to ask: Did you try lidbus-1-dev or libdbu-1-dev?
In the log you pasted you are trying to install the wrong/misspelled package.

Re: HOWTO: Canon iXXX series printers

Months ago I used this HOWTO to get my i850 working under Breezy, currently
under Dapper this is a no-go - Like others I am forced to use the BJC-7000 drivers.

    Re: Azureus Problems

I really appreciate the fix, but why is no updated package available seeing as the
