This suggested fix:
$ killall snap-store
$ sudo snap refresh snap-store --channel=latest/stable/ubuntu-23.10
worked for me; thank you very much, also for the Launchpad link.
Glenn you don't need to edit anything. When you are getting ready to log in, and you click in your avatar, you will see a gear wheel thingie in the lower right corner of your screen. Click on that...
I think you are looking for something that need not exist. "no matter how bogged down windows becomes" - doesn't apply here. Just use nano (easy to learn) vi (harder to learn but worth it) emacs...
Same problem with my older Gazelle p8 (gazp8) see this thread

Why would you want to use VNC to connect to a server? A server usually doesn't run any kind of desktop environment. Maybe you want to use ssh instead?
clalian, I too prefer the ctrl key between shift and tab but I use the ctrl:swapcaps setting, which exchanges the shift lock and the left control key. I don't use phpStorm but I have to say that...
dwhite18, have you filed a bug report on Launchpad?
I have a System76 Gazelle p8 that still serves me exceedingly well. Today I tried to use the new (?) system firmware updater but was not succesful:
clh@avignon:~/Dropbox/Timberline$ sudo...

Have you tried the drivers in the repos?
I have an XP-610 which works fine with package printer-driver-escpr installed (this being v 1.4.1-1 in 14.10).
As a GTX 750 owner myself, I prefer to trust the PPA. Why?
Well, using NVIDIA's excellent scripts is fine but you need to re-do things every time a new kernel comes down the pipe at you. With...
mo13, thank you for posting your fix.
This worked for me too (GTX 750 running on 14.10). Sometimes the launcher would flicker, and one app that always flickered was gmusicbrowser.
No...
Running 14.04 on an older Dell Optiplex with a brand new Asus GTX750.
This booted with VESA graphics. You need to install 334.21 NVIDIA drivers to get the card working properly.
I followed...
I have had my Gazelle for about 6 months now. I am generally really pleased with the computer, its shipping and the communications from System76. I live in Canada so I purchased the "ship back to...
For what it's worth, I get this same message on my gazelle and on my daughters' Dell Inspiron 14z laptops. I guess it's a pretty generic message. Still it would be nice to fix the problem (if...
Just to confirm that the instructions as given by Xinel above (on the first page of this thread) work just fine in 12.10.
I did not deviate from the instructions to see if the install had put the...
New files again today (yesterday?), line numbers are now
Shell.qml: line 89
common/IconTile.qml: 71,72
launcher/LauncherList.qml: 31,35
(editorial comment)
I don't get why the default size...

I seem to recall having this problem in 11.10 and if memory serves (a sometimes poor assumption) you DO have to tell Firefox which application to use to open the JNLP file - even though you've...
Have you tried the MyUnity tool? Maybe it can help you out.
12.04 does not give you the ability to change icon sizes in Unity-2d, except by editing the QML files.
maybe in 12.10, we'll see.
In 12.04 Unity 2-d, full-screen seems to be up to the edge of the launcher. You can "push the launcher out of the way" by moving a window in its direction, but the window manager doesn't do that for...
