change line 9 from
if [ -d $DEVICE/wireless ]; then
to
if [ -d $DEVICE/wireless ] || [ -d $DEVICE/phy80211...

Have the same problem on my X5DIJ (with K50 motherboard). It seems our touchpad is the Elantech one. I've read there's a gsynaptics-elantech package in some EEEpc repository, don't know if it works...
