    My understanding is that, even in MacOS, you cannot run an external monitor on the Intel chip alone:
    You must have 'graphics switching' or the Readeon enabled to run the external display..

    Mavericks and Ubuntu?

    Hello All,
    it seems Mavericks refuses to install on a drive that does not have a GUID partition table..
    However Ubuntu needs Master Boot Record partition scheme...

    Has anyone encountered this?...

    the bootloader should be installed at:
    /
    on your Ubuntu partition.
    Make sure you also elect to format the Ubuntu partition (ext4 is best)
    also install refit (or refind)

    That was never a speed demon...
    But i'll bet even an entry-level SSD will make it fly... The interface is SATA (1.5Gbs) so no problems there...
