You just need to install the game using quake4-linux-1.4.2.x86.run.

then you need to copy the required files off the 4 disks into the installation directory, usually /usr/local/games/quake4.

Its hard to find a linux exclusive game, because most linux games are Open Source, which means they can be ported pretty easily to other operating systems.

No, that was never my intention, we're only forced to play native games :P

We only chose to play FOSS games first, so it would be easier for people to join in, because everyone can get the game.
