If you have a PowerPC that cannot boot the Ubuntu MATE 15.10 live image, what is the easiest way to install that and upgrade to the 16.04 alpha?
Where can I get the ISO for this?
Do you have the Lubuntu 14.04.2 CD handy, and are you able to boot it using the video=ofonly flag described in the boot message?
No problem, and I'm glad you figured that the PCM level needed to be boosted. I couldn't remember the label for that setting and I am not home to check my iMac.
I have different hardware than you (iMac G4) but I just got sound working on my machine with Lubuntu 14.04. I referred to this:

Just posting that the drivers do work in 12.04. I now have Ubuntu running on an 800 mhz iMac G4. Thank you!
Those worked, thank you! Maybe the wiki can be updated with a link to that post.
Will the drivers posted in this thread work on 12.04 also?
I am trying to get Ubuntu 12.04 running on an 800mhz iMac G4 and found these instructions. Now that Ubuntu One is down, where are these files being hosted?
Yes, this seems to be the exact problem that I am having. If I give up on Debian I will try Lubuntu 12.04. Thanks.
Hi, I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to get Debian Jessie installed on an iMac G4 "desk lamp" that I was given. Unfortunately I am having a problem with the video driver - the machine's display...
That worked, thanks!
Yes, I mean the original state it was in when I installed gnome-session-fallback. I didn't install gnome-panel but I believe those are the same thing, right?
I will try doing those two things you...
So I was playing around with the launcher in Ubuntu 12.04 using gnome-session-fallback and accidentally deleted a few things. I wanted to return the panel to the original state. After Googling, i...
I used a USB key, but that worked. Thanks, everyone.
Ah, okay, I don't think I followed what was being recommended but after rereading it I understand. I'll let you know how it goes.
Here is df -h

Ah-ha. Found this thread:

Did a "sudo rm /var/crash/*" and that fixed Issue #3. Thanks, everyone.
Okay, so far, so good. Issues #1 and #2 are solved, thank you very much. Issue #3 is still frustrating me. I even changed the password to see if it would accept a new one. No idea. I'm looking...
Found some better stuff, thanks. Will try these out. That's interesting. I have another laptop with Lubuntu 12.04 and /etc/lxdm/default.conf has autologin defined and it works fine. If it isn't here,...
I have a Dell Inspiron B130 that I just installed Lubuntu 12.04 on. I was unable to use the standard USB CD installation procedure, unfortunately the machine would lock up after I selected the...
Thanks so much to everyone for the guidance, that helped me set this system straight.
Yeah, I'm working on solving the hardware problem. There's no airflow under the notebook and I'm going to be blowing out the vents with compressed air. The friend is a smoker and there's most likely...
