Hi
you've marked this as solved, but haven't explained how you solved it. Can you elaborate, please?
I recently got the 'OK' from upstairs to move my development web server from the busted down Vista machine to a new Ubuntu server. I did the server install this morning, and the web portion is...
The way I got around it was to tell Banshee not to minimize to the tray, and add the 'Indicator Applet' to the panel. I also enabled the 'Application Indicator for Banshee' extension inside Banshee -...
Alternatively, is there another place I can ask for help that might be more specific to my problem?
When I run Banshee (installed from the repos, no bleeding edge version here) and I close it to the Gnome Panel, the icon overhangs the panel by a few pixels.
This picture shows what I mean:...
So, just a quick question:
Is there a way to get the progress of the current song as a progress bar?
Although the definition of a geek used to mean: a wild man who, as part of a carnival show, would bite the heads off live chickens, mice, snakes, etc.
I prefer 'nerd' myself.
Well, no wonder! I've been a Linux user for a few years now and I still get frustrated with make, make install crap.
I believe that if you booted off the XP installation CD, went into Recovery mode, and at the console typed the following two commands:
fixmbr
fixboot

You might also want some anti-Injection code in there, too, before you take it to a production site.
Otherwise, someone could put as their username

The icon that doesn't have the white dot underneath it is a launcher. Drag it off the Docky bar and let it go on your desktop (you will see the 'poof' animation) and it should only appear whenever...
Now, I'm no expert or anything, but that cycle: 600 looks suspiscious to me. 600 seconds = 10 minutes ... are you sure the screensaver time is set higher?
Could it be something with your monitor or BIOS? Sometimes there are options to enter low power states in the BIOS (more common) and the monitors themselves (less common).
Try changing the mount command to something that will echo a word in the console, so you can tell if it's reaching that point or not.
If it says the word in the console, then the issue is with the...
That could definately be the issue. When the BIOS is loading, it doesn't care about what operating system is on any of the storage devices at that time; it doesn't even care if there are ANY...

Are you booting via the LiveCD? If so, then you will have to mount the disk that has your /etc/fstab on it in order to do the file rename operations.
To rename the current (faulty) fstab to fstab.BROKEN try:
sudo mv /etc/fstab /etc/fstab.BROKEN
(it will ask for your password)
To rename the original (fstab.BAK) to fstab, try:
sudo mv...
