Re: Kernel 5.9 RC (Release Candidate) series

Yes. Pity Groovy's "Kernel Freeze" was last Thursday, meaning it won't ship with 5.9 by default.

    [kubuntu] Re: Is it me?

Thanks. Forgot to disable that when I switched from Focal.

I also had an issue with the security repo, due to devs changing the distro name in sources from "focal-security" to just "groovy"...

Re: Kernel 5.8 RC (Release Canidate) series

I kinda think I need signed kernels, as I dual boot on a UEFI system.

Re: Kernel 5.8 RC (Release Canidate) series

Thanks. I was hoping for 5.6 or better for AMD's k10temp sensor support.

I guess we may not see that until kernel freeze in October, and jump straight from 5.4 to 5.7 or 5.8.

    Re: Kernel 5.5

Hope Ubuntu releases a signed 5.5 kernel soon. Due to needing to "secure boot" for reasons, I'm currently stuck on 5.4.0-9, which is based on 5.4.3.

The problem is that 5.4 3 introduced a nasty...

Re: Kernel 5.2RC (Release Candidate) series

A Phoronix comment says the newer kernels use the -mindirect-branch flag to deal with retpolines.
This is not compatible with Ubuntu's chosen fcf-protection flag.

Re: Kernel 5.2RC (Release Candidate) series

There is more bad news however.
Phoronix is reporting that anything later than 18.04LTS won't boot on the new Ryzen 3000 CPU's.
There is much discussion of what the cause may be in the comments.
