  1. Re: Ubuntu locking 100% load only with open browser.

Lockups can happen for many different reasons. Our of RAM is a common issue if the swap file is too small. My last 16.04.6 install only created a 1GB swap, which is 4x too small for any desktop...

[ubuntu] Re: Security updates releases of Ubuntu.

Add me to the use LTS recommendation.
New is the enemy of stable. Unstable code is a security issue.
  3. Re: Best distro for old PC decked out with RAM and HDD space - old games, multimedia,

I used an AMD E-350 APU for my media center PC until it couldn't handle the new Hidef videos. Never got it to play anything over 600p resolution without stuttering, but anything 600p and less worked...
  4. Re: How Do I know everything is installed fully and functioning properly

Dual boot OSes have nothing to do with each other, unless you connect them, which could make incompatible settings a problem between the two OSes. But for that to happen, you'd have to merge HOME...

Re: APT Private Repo [S3] Key issues

Old keys become invalid. I invalidate and revoke my old gpg keys yearly. Probably worth checking that.
  6. Re: Won’t boot-too many levels of symbolic links

I suspect you deleted the real file and have symbolic links, pointing at symbolic links, pointing at symbolic links.
At some point, the symlink needs to point at a real file.
  7. [ubuntu] Re: Can't access files on my second fixed drive 18.04

    If /home/myuname/media isn't empty, I wouldn't delete it.
  8. Re: Won’t boot-too many levels of symbolic links

Boot from some live-boot media and fix it.

  10. [all variants] Re: Upgrading a system with /home on a different physical drive

If any of the commands above fail. STOP and fix the issue. Do not continue. Issues don't get better by forcing a release-upgrade, just worse.

If you want to leave this open to see some other...

[SOLVED] Re: linux network manager interface

PIA uses standard openVPN, so you can use any OpenVPN client that you want. I've never used their downloads besides their specific client ovpn files for the 45 different exit nodes they provide and...
  13. [all variants] Re: Upgrading a system with /home on a different physical drive

Yes. The upgrade process doesn't alter mounts or data inside HOME directories. But, you will need to have a full and complete backup that you know you can restore from BEFORE doing any major updates....

And please, use code tags so everything lines up...
  15. [lubuntu] Re: How do I install all Universal Access features in from Ubuntu in Lubuntu 18.04?

    Don't have any Qt apps.
Standard X/11 apps do not have a blinking cursor.

I don't use many GUI programs, so my direct knowledge...

Re: Ubuntu 18.04 not recognizing full RAM

For RAM, I'd trust /proc/meminfo contents.
For video RAM use, I don't know who to trust, but I suspect there is a maximum limitation and normal use values. I am relatively clueless on video card...

lspci for the video adapter says
