    That would be a problem with the character set that firefox is rendering your web page. Try View / Character Encoding / Auto Detect, or select western.

    Looks like your english fonts render fine, but your font setup is a bit weird. You can edit it using System / preferences / appearance / font.

    This is indeed strange. Try deleting your fonts.conf file, then rebuilding the font cache.
