[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 Switches Language

    It's al-right now.

Here's the thing. In the system settings there is a "language" section, in which a list of languages is shown. The language at the top is the default language. For me, it was...

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 Switches Language

Rather late, but still very important:

I tried this, but the list of languages is in Chinese symbols, so I don't know which one to choose. I need Dutch, but I can't make heads or tails of it.
  3. Re: Howto program the Logitech Harmony universal remote control on Hardy with Concord

Too bad, I really hoped it was just a minor issue.

I guess I'll just stick to the conventional remotes for now.

Thanks anyhow, at least now I have closure.

  4. Re: Howto program the Logitech Harmony universal remote control on Hardy with Concord

No dice. I get the Connectivity.EZHex file again.

Running it in sudo didn't help the connectivity, neither did gksudo.

By the way, do I need to get a message when I plug my remote into the USB...
  5. Re: Howto program the Logitech Harmony universal remote control on Hardy with Concord

@SuperFreak: I use the Harmony 300 (not i), and upon running the "Connectivity.EZHex" file in Congruity, I get a very similar error message to yours.

Where can I find the "Update.EZHex" file? Or...
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Only choose one package to update from a repository.

    Thanks!
  7. [ubuntu] Re: Only choose one package to update from a repository.

In other words, I should have been more patient.

Do I have to undo anything if I remove the script from my desktop?
  8. [ubuntu] Re: Only choose one package to update from a repository.

I don't know exactly what went wrong, but it doesn't work.

I couldn't execute the first command, because the terminal doesn't recognise "sudo +x" (its words), so I simply ticked the "executable"...
  9. [ubuntu] Re: Only choose one package to update from a repository.

    that's clear enough. Thanks.

I could do that, but the thing with ppa's is that they are meant to update on a regular basis, so one doesn't have to install the packages from the website.

    For...
  10. [ubuntu] Re: Only choose one package to update from a repository.

Well, the version in the main repository is more up to date than the one in the third party (this is the "gtksourceview3" package), so would that mean that the main repository won't be overruled?

  11. [ubuntu] Re: Only choose one package to update from a repository.

Wow, that's a lot of info.

@drs305: Since it's not a complete solution, I'll wait until something more complete arives. It does sound very interesting, but I don't trust my skills enough to do it....
  12. [ubuntu] Re: Only choose one package to update from a repository.

That doesn't do what I want, for as far as I know.

Here's the thing. I want to use the ppa from Christian Kampka (https://launchpad.net/~kampka/+archive/ppa?field.series_filter=precise), but...

  15. [ubuntu] Only choose one package to update from a repository.

I want to use a ppa to update Liferea, but not the other packages in that ppa, since they are more up to date by default.

Is there a way to just "select" one package from a ppa, and keep the...

    Bump.

It's so frustrating to have non-standard bookmarks separated from the standard ones. How can it be "mended"?

[SOLVED] Re: Computer hangs after removing Unity.

Never mind. I solved it by typing "gksudo nautilus" in the terminal, and changing the rights of the entire hard disk and all files therein.

[SOLVED] Re: Computer hangs after removing Unity.

I already had Gnome-Shell installed before the computer went haywire, so that wouldn't help.

[SOLVED] Re: Computer hangs after removing Unity.

Good to know. Now I know exactly why I shouldn't do that in the future.

After reinstalling Ubuntu and replacing the .mozilla in my home folder with the folder from my backup. After that,...

[SOLVED] Re: Computer hangs after removing Unity.

I still wonder why they left Thunderbird out of the distro. Do they have Evolution as a replacement? That'd suck, since it's a nightmare to remove.

[SOLVED] Re: Computer hangs after removing Unity.

What's so special about Thunderbird that it's not installed? I use it, so if I can't, that would be a major drawback.

If I'm correct, then I can also use that list to install programs...

[SOLVED] Re: Computer hangs after removing Unity.

Serves me right for being too quick with software.

I don't think that I will do a clean install just yet. I still have lots of data on the computer, so I'd have to salvage that first.

    If I do...

I had removed the most basic parts of Unity some time ago, and am using Gnome-Shell quite happily.
