    Re: eeepc keyboard acting silly

And add me to the list of those who got the problem fixed by installing mouseemu, not uninstalling it. Mine was a 1000H, BTW.

    Thank you!
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Elantech touchpad in Asus X52N under 10.04

I am sorry, I do not recall, but I think that, because of this problem, I actually installed 11.04, and the problem was no longer there.
You may try that, unless you are very keen on 10.04...
    And...
  3. [ubuntu] Elantech touchpad in Asus X52N under 10.04

    Hello,

am trying to configure this notebook for a friend and have got stuck on the touchpad.
The touchpad is a funny one, with a single button, though left may be used as a left click and right...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: Open issues with Jaunty on MacBook Pro 5,1

Finally, thanks to you, using this patch makes it so that click and drag works as it should (i.e. you click and drag the blasted object).
Meanwhile I have lost the right-click, using Nikos'...
  5. [ubuntu] Going thourgh the list

    Kal'hmera Nike,

haven't gone through your list (which meanwhile changed) yet.
    I apologise - I will.
Using your trackpad config file worked, but obviously you were reproducing your own Mac OS X...
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Open issues with Jaunty on MacBook Pro 5,1

Then maybe you would please care to:
    a. name the exact sequence of steps you do to, for instance, drag a folder from the desktop into the trash and;
    b. copy here your...
  7. [ubuntu] Re: Open issues with Jaunty on MacBook Pro 5,1

    I would add:

    - trackpad does not work fully, even closely following the wiki instructions (I am obliged to use a USB mouse, if I want to click and drag an object);
    - it still overheats...
  8. [ubuntu] Re: Dual partition external hard drive ext3/HFS+?

Thank you cyberdork, and then backup with what?
sbackup seems unable to back to an external FW drive.
Should one use any other recommended program?
[I hope I am not hijacking this thread,...

[ubuntu] Touchpad problems on a MBP 5,1

    Hello,
am plagued by a jumpy touchpad on a MacBook Pro 5,1 with Jaunty.
Particularly mysterious is an irritating and unintelligible jumping between the Ubuntu equivalent of Spaces: I see a box with...

  12. [ubuntu] Help with trackpad stupid mistake in a MBP 5,1

I have a very jumpy cursor on my MBP 5,1.
Followed what's in the wiki, installed pommed, etc., all to no avail.
In one of the latest attempts I unchecked by mistake the box, in "trackpad", which...
  13. [ubuntu] Re: Broadcomm trouble with MacBook Pro 5,1

So back I went to the gnome Network Manager and indeed it works.
This must be the first time it works the other way around.
Perhaps I shoud tell the wicd people...
    Thanks Alex: by JJ Network...
  14. [ubuntu] Re: Broadcomm trouble with MacBook Pro 5,1

    Old habit, I guess.
On my previous MacBook Pro it was far superior to Network Manager.
Will give it a try to get rid of Wicd and see whether I can make it work with Network Manager.

    Thanks for...
  15. [ubuntu] Broadcomm trouble with MacBook Pro 5,1

Have just installed Jaunty on my shining new MacBook Pro 5,1.
I have by now, after a number of installations, a certain routine, so I install ubuntu-tweak, wicd and reboot.
    Much to my surprise, the...
  16. [ubuntu] Sony VAIO PCG-7151M and Jaunty installation

    Hello,

acting upon my recommendation, a colleague of mine has just bought a Sony VAIO PCG-7151M and I am configuring it with Jaunty Jackalope.

    I have essentially two questions:

    a. is it...
  17. [ubuntu] Re: Installing 9.04 on a [2,1] MacBook Pro

    Thank you. I won't then.
Already JJ has another significant improvement over II and that is it does not heat up the Mac as if it were a cooker!
Also, it seems to be stabler than II when you do...
  18. [ubuntu] Re: Installing 9.04 on a [2,1] MacBook Pro

    Thank you.
No, I did not use fdisk, I just used a 9.04 Ubuntu installation CD to repartition the disk.
Got the feeling that the change was declaring the rEFIt partition as "rEFIt boot" and that...
  19. [ubuntu] Re: Installing 9.04 on a [2,1] MacBook Pro

Meanwhile I re-installed, and I re-partitioned the disk, without touching the Mac OS X part, so here is now diskutil output:

    /dev/disk0
    #: TYPE NAME ...
  20. [ubuntu] Installing 9.04 on a [2,1] MacBook Pro

    Hello,
I had Ubuntu 8.10 installed previously on this MacBook Pro.
I tried to upgrade - it did not work (I know it is not recommended) and I then proceeded to install it from CD.
    It worked well...
  21. [ubuntu] A summary of JJ (Ubunt 09.04) on a 2,1 MacBook Pro

Have installed JJ on an MBP on which I had II, fairly well configured, thanks to the lots of help of posters here.
My assessment of JJ is : much ado about nothing.

    The good:
    - a limited number...

  23. [ubuntu] Re: Updating Mac OS X to Leopard in a dual boot MBP

    Thank you very much cyberdork33.
I think what I will do will be instead to preserve my Ubuntu partition as best as I can (I haven't found an appropriate tool, so far, you know one?), by backing it...
  24. [ubuntu] Updating Mac OS X to Leopard in a dual boot MBP

    Hello,
I am aware this may look off-topic.
It isn't, but of course you will judge it.
I have a Mac Book Pro 2nd generation (2.33 GHz, 3GB RAM) with dual boot.
Ubuntu HH, and with help from many...
  25. [ubuntu] Re: Why doesn't wireless work out of the box?

Pal, not that I do not want to help, but we are dealing in this thread with MacBook Pro or Macbook computers, both with Intel CPUs, not PowerPC.
Adding to that that I believe PowerPC-based computers...
