For Uninstallation what command do you used.
Need to be re-configure you network card
You may be re-install openoffice with apt-get autoremove openoffice and instal.
May be you need to fix some damage packages
While booting select with recovery mode and select damaged packages to fix the problems.
May be you can use KDE3 instead of KDE4
Your Installation CD / DVD Problem, download fresh Ubuntu and try to burn cd / dvd and check the cd /dvd then install.
Could you able to try login using with atl+f1, atl+f2 key to get into login

I don't thing so, anything getting like that, since Ubuntu Security Issue. The only oneway is that, you have to Update your Ubuntu Software on a peridocally.
Try to boot into recovery mode.
While booting select Ubuntu Recovery Mode.
May be problem with DVD or your Nvidia Card.
