I'm back, editing the 40_custom file did not work.

I tried editing the 40_custom file under /etc/grub.d/ to read simply:

I tried reading over some documentation about Grub2, but it doesn't seem like it'd have a place for nohz=off.

In the old grub I could just add it to the end of the Kernal line, but I'm not sure...

I am also having this problem, though the solution posted here was for grub, I have the grub2 beta so my menu.lst is nonexistent and I'm not sure how to edit the new one.
