[xubuntu] Re: Live on USB work with dead HDD?

Yes that would work. As for being a mini-SSD not quite...
A flash drive has a lot less read/write cycles so you will probably want to get a hard drive for it.
You might have to change a bios option...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: How can I find the date I installed Ubuntu Linux?

Find a file created by the installation that has not been modified since.
    For example, I used /etc/adduser.conf.
    if you use
ls -l it will list the date modified.
The date should be the date/time...

[ubuntu] Re: Work around idea for compiz and ati hd2600

Hmmm... It sounds like it could work. As for going about doing it,
there are two directories you need.
    /etc/apm/suspend.d
    and
    /etc/apm/resume.d

These directories use scripts similar to...

[ubuntu] Re: Problem Rotating Monitor 90

What video card do you have?
    You can run:

    xrandr -o right
    xrandr -o left
    xrandr -o normal
    or
    xrandr -o inverted
to rotate the display. Just run it in the terminal.

Try going into appearence and setting the theme to something else, then move it back.
Also you can try changing the resolution, and then changing it back.

    [SOLVED] Re: icon editor

I actaully think gimp is pretty light (depending on what you are running on.)
An Icon is just an image. (In fact on ubuntu, I think they are just pngs.)
So any image editor should work.

    @Trebaruna lol...
I think there may be some math to it...
I have a 250GB hard drive, with 4GB of ram, and the ubuntu installer gave me 10GB swap.
But I'm not too worried about it..

  23. [ubuntu] Re: Unique dual-boot file sytem/partition question

  24. [SOLVED] Re: Gedit - root account ( sudo ) have it's own theme .. how to fix it ?

Right. But the actual settings telling openbox what theme you are using should be in your home directory. ~/.themes is probably where you can put the actual theme files, not the settings. :)
