@pardalet, thanks for the detailed reply. I've also sent an email to the humble bundle staff asking them to take a look at the deb packages.
Could you detail what exactly you did? Please and thank-you.
I don't see a libGLEW in the directory.
Having gnome-session depend on unity or gnome-shell seems backwards; I would have though it should be unity and gnome-shell that depend on gnome-session.
Figured it out. Uninstalling unity removes "gnome-session" which is what is needed to log into gnome-shell.
Actually, it looks like the kde install didn't complete. I have now successfully installed it. KDM does show options for "Gnome"(-shell) login, but choosing the option gives an error about failing to...
There were no such prompts.
My machine definitely has more than the minimum specs; like I said, if I run `gnome-shell` from command line it works.
All I get for options is "gnome classic" and "gnome classic (no effects)".
I've reinstalled ubuntu for the first time in a while, and was using gnome shell. After reinstalling ubuntu, I removed unity and installed gnome-shell, but on the login screen I get no option to use...
I have a bunch of templates in my $HOME/Template directory and I'd like to somehow edit them (to insert the date, for example) when I create a file. Is this at all possible?

I'm trying to set up a 3rd monitor to work with. I currently have duel monitors working on my radeon HD4850 on my M3A78-T and was wondering if I could use the onboard video to add a third monitor....
I brought a Radeon HD 4850 the other day, and after discovering I don't have a good enough PSU I brought a new one yesterday. So I got home excited to install everything, and, after modding my case...

Ubuntu doesn't have a root password by default. If you set one yourself, then that trick doesn't work.
Well, thanks for your help but I couldn't get it working. So, I reinstalled, this time I'm not symlinking the Desktop folder, so it shouldn't happen again.
Nope, that's my problem. All the links are working, but it's still showing my homefolder as my desktop.
It links to /dev/sda6/ -> /media/common
The entries not in fstab are for my gentoo partition and its /boot partition (which I need to get working)..
The strange thing is that after the first boot I fixed the mounting and they're linking properly.

Simple question: nautilus has made my desktop folder the same as my home folder, how do I change it back to ~/Desktop ?

I'm in the same boat; I changed my sources.lst to intrepid a day before hardy was released then xserver broke on Sunday, so I just reinstalled hardy, it's no biggy and I have backups of everything...
I don't think it's included, but it's not hard to install. Open up a console and type
