Re: Binding a key sequence to another key

Surely this has to be possible? They are bound in the first place, I'm just trying to double bind it to a key sequence.

Binding a key sequence to another key

Is there a way to bind the keys Ctrl+Alt+Left to be the same as pressing the Home key?

    I am using Kubuntu 14.04.

    [other] Kernel incremental building

I've been making some changes to the kernel to fix a problem I'm experiencing. Though I have to keep rebuilding everything from scratch, which wastes time.

I use the following 2 commands

I have also suspected the term setting, but I'm not sure what else it could be.

Mine is xterm on all my machines, even the working ones. What should the term setting be?

    Menuconfig with Ubuntu Kernel

I am busy porting a driver for a network device to the new kernel in Karmic (there were some API changes from 2.6.28).

For this I need to rebuild the kernel, and have done so configuring it via...
  9. [other] Re: BASH Shows Control and Escape Characters/Sequences

I have noticed doing "stty -echoctl" makes it not print "^C" when pressing ctrl+c at a prompt. Though it prints a unicode character square when pressing it during a running program, for ex. cat/ping....
  10. [other] BASH Shows Control and Escape Characters/Sequences

Since I installed Karmic, my bash terminals show "^C" when I press ctrl+c (even though ^C is interpreted), as well as escape sequences in SSH banners. I don't think it's terminal related, since from...
  11. [ubuntu] Re: Welcome message before Login prompt... is it possible?

    As mentioned in the post:
Edit your /etc/ssh/sshd_config file, and uncomment the line:
    #Banner /etc/issue.net

    To read:
    Banner /etc/issue.net

Then /etc/issue.net will be your "pre-login...

    [ubuntu] Re: Apache Read/Write Permissions...

You can change it's ownership to whatever user apache uses?

Beyond this, whenever you create a directory that you need apache to write to you need to change it's permissions or ownership.
  14. [all variants] Re: Apache/MultiDomains/SingleIP/Vhost nightmare

OK. Remove those lines from httpd.conf, and put in apache2.conf. And post the full file in private again.
  15. [all variants] Re: Apache/MultiDomains/SingleIP/Vhost nightmare

Do you have any files inside /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/?

If so, paste them all separately, with their names prefixing them.
  16. [ubuntu] Re: Would appreciate some input on firewalls/security in ubuntu

Note that in Windows firewalls block outgoing ports because of the huge virus/spyware problems. Linux doesn't have that problem by design, so blocking outgoing ports is sort of pointless, except for...

[ubuntu] Re: A question on running "svn co .."

Correct, ServerName has to be resolvable to an IP address. If you have more than one name you want to use to open the same host, you put the primary name inside "ServerName", and the rest of the...

  20. [ubuntu] Re: Question on IP address connect with samba

That means your routing isn't working correctly, or you are filtering ICMP packets on your router.

What VSpike mentioned will work with routing. WINS servers eliminate the need for a bridge, but...

  22. [all variants] Re: Apache/MultiDomains/SingleIP/Vhost nightmare

    Please paste your whole httpd.conf.

And make sure there are NO other <VirtualHost> tags in httpd.conf or any of the files it includes.
  23. [ubuntu] Re: Welcome message before Login prompt... is it possible?

The "I made an oopsie" fits very nice into "core dumped".

Something interesting. Did you know kernel panics are internally to the kernel source referred to as "OOPS" errors?

    [ubuntu] Re: Beginer VirtualHost questions
