  1. [SOLVED] Re: Step by Step Instructions for an Idiot to get his Epson XP-247 working

There is a version of escpr in the repositories - 'printer-driver-escpr' if I recall correctly. I would be inclined to try that first - it worked for me (on an XP-425).

PS - You won't find it in...

That output looks numerically odd. To have run a scan for 1E12 minutes seems extraordinary.
  3. Re: 0-days hitting Fedora and Ubuntu open desktops to a world of hurt

    I get:

    ~$ apt-cache policy libgme0
    libgme0:

this is on 16.04 without the ubuntu restricted extras or add-ons packages, so I'm not...

[SOLVED] Re: Firefox in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

By Firewall Sundry I believe the OP means Firewalld http://www.firewalld.org/

It is just called Firewall in Gnome Software Centre, but is tagged Sundry

On my system Sophos uses about 430MB in normal operation (630MB during scans) - just to note in case those are machines without much RAM.

    I can understand that.

In the days when IBM were completely dominant they ran an Ad which just said:

    Re: Free Antivirus

I think the OP is looking for a free AV with On-Access protection as well (from the way he says 'I went to eicar.org and downloaded their test virus and clam didn't stop it.').

    The only such I...

Re: Lubuntu 16.04 LTS keeps crashing

If you want to pursue this you'd probably be better to start your own thread, but just a thought:

I updated to 15.10 to 16.04 and had a stable system. There were still bits of both present though...

15.10 to 16.04 apparently went smoothly here. Haven't discovered anything that isn't working yet.

I agree. As noted above though, the hacker may also have modified the published md5sum to match the compromised iso.

  16. Re: Question for LTS users - will you be upgrading to 16.04?

    I will be upgrading. I have already upgraded 14.04 to 15.10. 14.04 had a suspend/resume problem on my machine. 12.04 didn't, 15.10 doesn't.

16.04 currently has the same laptop power management...
  17. Re: Firefox confined profile with AppArmor Ubuntu's default. What's your experience?

  18. Re: Firefox confined profile with AppArmor Ubuntu's default. What's your experience?

    You're welcome.
The fact that FF apparmor profile never causes issues may imply that it's very lax. I take the view that even so FF must be slightly more secure against some issues with it than...
  19. Re: Firefox confined profile with AppArmor Ubuntu's default. What's your experience?

I've had it enabled and set to enforce since 12.04. Never had a problem following FF updates.
Unlike Chromium default profile, where every Chromium update seemed to require a profile tweak. The...

  22. [ubuntu] Re: LibreOffice Greying out as Ubuntu used one core 100% and the other 7 remain idle

I've never seen this behaviour either. On my 2.2GHz dual core machine running 15.10 and LO5 both cores seem to load evenly.

Re: Ubuntu 14 inbuilt firewall and antivirus .. ?
