    [ubuntu] Ubuntu 16.04 and "wkhtmltopdf"

    "wkhtmltopdf" is causing problems after the 16.04 upgrade (was ok on 14.04).

    and coredumps (wkhtmltopdf coredumps easily).

    The support recommends to `purge` the package (wkhtmltopdf 0.12.2.4),...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: How to remove an input method menu item (Ubuntu 14.04)

    It's PHP 7 :-)
    Yes you'll have to review your code, but this is a good thing. What is deprecated in 7 is all the not-so-good-practice.
  3. [gnome] Re: Joy and Vexation of Adding a Launcher in Unity

    Maybe we could understand what's happening if a manual somewhere describes in details what makes an icon "spawn"..
  4. [gnome] Re: Joy and Vexation of Adding a Launcher in Unity

    This is one desktop file that launches a new icon

    [Desktop Entry]
    Name=XTerminal
    Comment=Use the command line

  7. [gnome] Joy and Vexation of Adding a Launcher in Unity

    Using Ubuntu 16.04.1 regular Desktop (Unity)

    Somehow adding a Launcher icon in 14.04 was awkward, but it usually worked.

    In 16.04, copying the icons from 14.04 (~/.local/share/applications/*)...

    [ubuntu] Re: Broken php5-cli?

    Me too... No official solution yet(?)
    In my case /etc/php5/cli/php.ini is a symlink to ../fpm/php.ini .
    I made that symlink so that the CLI loads the same config and modules as the daemon - useful...

    [ubuntu] ifconfig IP cleared after some time

    Occasionally I need to set my eth0 (wired) to a specific IP address, eg

    while connected to a device for instance, which does not provide DHCP.

    This works ok,...

    [ubuntu] Re: resolvconf, network-manager et al.

    dns-nameservers in /etc/network/interfaces is actually what I've been using (after resolvconf was gone).

    This is good as it helps having the network configuration grouped together in one place.
