I have the same issue too. I always install Ubuntu in an encrypted LVM (alongside Windows 8). The live CD in 12.10 does not allow this option unless I erase the other OS. Manual partition tool does...

If you have a keylogger on W7, it will record everything you type.

I just noticed that in the right click menu, the "Encrypt" and "Sign" options are gone. This is happening on my laptop (screenshot-1.png). On my desktop, these options are still there...
