    [ubuntu] Re: how usable/stable is kvm in Ubuntu 8.04?

    Hi,

    you don't need X in KVM, because KVM redirects the graphic device to vnc (like xen), and the only issue I know in virtualizing WinXP is, that you have to disable acpi in Win.

  2. [ubuntu] Re: Can't get network working with kvm/ubuntu-vm-builder

    No, the address is not automaticly .2

    But you can grep for the address of your guest system in your daemon.log:

    cat /var/log/daemon.log |grep 192.168.122
    or

    cat /var/log/daemon.log |grep...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: libvirt and network bridge failing because sysctl.conf not fully loading

    Hm,

    just add sysctl -p /etc/sysctl.conf to any other (later) start script.
    I have no firewall configured on my kvm box, but I think this is the easiest way.

    [ubuntu] Re: KVM - how to view guest on host

    You can run the vm without the vnc option, the vm then run in a sdl window.

    But it make not really a sense, that the vnc connection on remote host work, but not on local host.

    You have to setup bridged network for you host.
    Install bridge utils

  12. [ubuntu] Re: KVM - always have to destroy after windows closes..?

    This is because Virtmanager disable acpi for Windows Guest by default.
    To enable acpi for your Windows guest, you can add the following lines to the guest's xml:

    <features>
    <acpi/>
