i had the same issue with the logo. i uninstalled the drivers that ubuntu recommended. then installed the ones from the ati website, everything seemed fine.. but after 30 - 40 mins of use my system...
i am also looking for a solution to 8.20 and logitech mx5500 if anyone can help. as it is i cant use it. pain in the **** to unplug the dongle and plug it back in each boot.
you wont be getting the special functions working anytime soon if at all i recon. even then with intrepid ibex the kb/mouse doesnt work at all!

i think i have something wrong in my setup. i followed the howto exactly and its shared perfectly fine on my fat32 partition, all emails work in both windows & linux. but... about 50% of the time...
i simply made a share folder in my ubuntu, and axs it via the network in the windowsXP i installed in vmware. pretty simple :) --hope this helps.
