Is there a particular reason you are using rEFInd and not GRUB?

Aborting could be a problem since not only would you have a non-working Ubuntu install but it might also mean not being able to boot into Windows.

What are the specs. especially RAM and graphics card.

It could be a graphics issue but without more information it would just be guessing.

Not clear to me what you want to do.

Do you get to the login and desktop? Can you use your Ubuntu normally once logged in?

Perhaps checking your fstab file might give you some clues if...
