Re: Linux on PDA's 10 years ago.

The Zaurus SL-5500 was one of those early mainstream PDAs that were already running Linux out of the box unlike the PocketPC/WindowsCE devices that already have hardware designed for it from...

Re: Linux on PDA's 10 years ago.

I used to own a Sharp SL-5500 Zaurus and contributed some stuff to OpenZaurus. It was very popular back then.

Re: BIR government program on Ubuntu

Excel is probably used to create the form and tied up to some macros. Best shot in the future for this is to export as xml or csv at the very least. It doesn't have to be app specific open source or...

  6. Re: Skype aborts upon signing in! NEED HELP

It is not hard to fix. It took me less than 2 minutes to look for it and delete the file and restart. Just look for the shared.xml file and delete it. When Skype starts, the file will be recreated....
  7. Re: Skype aborts upon signing in! NEED HELP

The first thing to check as always, is the status of the service at Skype's website at http://heartbeat.skype.com . Or check social networks for potential patterns. As of 1 hour ago, there is a...
  8. Re: It has been a great experience, but it's time for me to say goodbye, Ubuntu :(

Well I don't like Unity yet, but it doesn't stop me from setting up my own preferences, which is one of the joys of using a free software desktop.
  9. Re: Any Idea on how to install Ubuntu in APAD (WM8085)

Yeah Maemo and Meego are good candidates since they have been built on ARM from the start and optimized for mobile/touch screen devices.

Re: Help setting up Tagalog Desktop

As my brothers who grew up in the US would say, I use "Dictionary English" ;)

Actually, Philippine English is full of colloquials.
  11. Re: Philippine Keyboard Layout (with Baybayin too)

Probably not practical for now, but definitely good for academic use. Perhaps the Bayanihan folks can include?
  12. Re: Ano ang masasabi nyo sa Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal )

Nahh don't make it a class war. Its obvious that Canonical goes for OEMs which provides them revenue to operate and develop the system further. Without revenue, no LTS, no Ubuntu.
  13. Re: It has been a great experience, but it's time for me to say goodbye, Ubuntu :(

Yeah since its not an LTS version yet, expect some degree of adjustment which would allow the development team to understand more and make fixes from real-use feedback before sticking an LTS tag to a...
  14. Re: It has been a great experience, but it's time for me to say goodbye, Ubuntu :(

You don't need to. Classic is already included. Or, just get a different Ubuntu variant (like Edubuntu which provides "classic" and gives you an option to install Unity 2D or 3D from the installer).
  15. Re: Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal ) Release Party

Yeah you don't need the LoCo to do your own release party. Or probably start another LoCo.
  16. Re: It has been a great experience, but it's time for me to say goodbye, Ubuntu :(

Man stop whining or ranting about the changes. There will always be major changes happening to any software project. Use Slackware or Debian if you like to do things your way. Until you do, you...
  17. Re: Any Idea on how to install Ubuntu in APAD (WM8085)

You will probably need an Ubuntu image compiled to run on ARM.
  18. Re: How hard a person can get a job with experience in Unix/solaris and linux experie

In cases like this, both parties have to be very clear on the SoW and ToR for work to be rendered.

  20. Re: ShopWise Commonwealth running Linux on their POS

They've been doing that since Shopwise started. It was implemented by a local company before (CYWare yata). Even Puregold uses a Linux POS. Even KFC. So POS in Linux has been mainstream in the...

Shutting down ShipIt to general distribution and focusing it on LoCos is actually the right thing to do.
