  1. [ubuntu] Re: 12.10 Install alongside Windows 8 - encrypt and LVM options not available

    Good news!

I was able to set up a Windows / encrypted Ubuntu dual boot by following these steps. The result is pretty much flawless. When the machine boots, I am presented with a choice (from...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: 12.10 Install alongside Windows 8 - encrypt and LVM options not available

Same question here. Anyone know why these options are grayed out, and what can be done instead to install encrypted Ubuntu alongside Windows?
  3. [ubuntu] Re: How can I change default zoom level in Evince ?

Funny enough, it now seems that I can't repeat this behavior. A recent version of evince might have fixed it (i.e., the fix is 6 months away in Ubuntu land :-)).
  4. [ubuntu] Re: How can I change default zoom level in Evince ?

I'm also a bit annoyed by this behavior. It looks like we're not the only ones to care about this, someone submitted a bug report in May 2010:

Re: Icebuntu Development ~ Second Alpha Release Available

I don't know if I'd worry too much about Ubuntu's trademark policy. Ubuntu is all about being open. If Canonical were to come after you, they would only be hurting their own reputation. They knows...

    Agreed :-)

The dots need to be replaced with something, for sure. Many derivatives do the same.

If it's of any use to anybody, here is another version of the Ubuntu logo modified to use shades of blue.

    Re: Icebuntu Development

Do you plan on leaving the taskbar at the top? I would personally prefer it at the bottom, but maybe that's just me.

Re: Anyone have any interest in creating IceBuntu?

TPB seems to be back up. The current IceBuntu torrent (http://www.filedropper.com/ubuntuicewmremixiso) should now be working. Would anyone be able to verify?

Re: Anyone have any interest in creating IceBuntu?

I believe I am sharing it, but I am very new to torrents so it's very likely that I'm wrong.

Could it has something to do with the fact that The Pirate Bay is down?

That link should allow you to download the .torrent file. Are you having any issues?

Re: Anyone have any interest in creating IceBuntu?

Not many (or any) of the download links that are available are currently working. We need to get this software out there somehow.

With the help of markp1989, I got a copy of the official ISO and...

[ubuntu] Re: Fixing ACPI and unding the workaround

It seems I was able to update ACPI and undo the workaround. And it seems to be working! My computer has been on for a good while, and the load cycle count has not increased at all.

[ubuntu] Fixing ACPI and unding the workaround

It seems that the ACPI bug has finally been fixed.

    So I have two questions:

How could I apply a patch in 8.10?
I originally applied this workaround, which created (overwrote?) files start.d,...

[ubuntu] Re: What happened to Atlantik?

    [ubuntu] What happened to Atlantik?

I used the Monopoly-clone Atlantik on Ubuntu 7.04, 7.10, and 8.04. When I upgraded to 8.10, it was uninstalled.

If I try to install it via Synaptic, I get the following error message:

    [ubuntu] Re: VLC 9.2 Install

I would also like to know the answer to this question. How do we know that the repository is and will always be legit?
  21. [ubuntu] Re: Why do sudo applications slow system to halt?

I was using whatever was used by default to launch applications like Synaptic, which I would assume would be gksu.

In the end, I don't even know if it was related to gksu or not because some...
