Have you checked the "Lock screen after..." on the screensaver Settings page?
The update-notifier package can be installed on Lubuntu 19.04 from the muon package manager; if you install it, the Software Updater will appear as a line in the Preferences menu.
Be advised,...
There's a good section on the Panel and other configuration tricks in the Lubuntu Manual
https://manual.lubuntu.me/
Next time you get it into the properly-running state, check all possible configuration options in the Power Manager section. There might be something there that will give you some clues. (Not a...
True, both of you: the Klein bottle is indeed there, but the "there" isn't there - the problem is, some subset of screensavers, I suspect those inherited from the Gnome-screensavers library, is no...
Xubuntu Core 16.04.1 with various additions, fully updated.
That was the first thing I tried, and even tried reinstalling. But the particular ones I'm after show No Preview Available and can't be started.
After the latest updates I've lost my favorite screen savers, most (all?) of which are apparently from the Gnome collection. Does anyone have any idea what happened?
Do these screen savers still...
Go to http://releases.ubuntu.com/ You'll find downloads for the ISOs and all their components: md5sums, manifests... all you need.
Do you know of the Xubuntu Core ISOs? They give you a desktop-only, practically no apps, and let you configure a system to your own preferences. That means it can be as light as (maybe even lighter...

If you type grub rescue > ls (hd1, msdos4), I'll bet you see it formatted as ext2, which indicates it is your Linux partition. Knowing that, you can follow the rest of the instructions you found.
That's an older file, superceeded by a new one. If you open /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/' you'll see two 20auto-upgrades files with different extensions. The newer one is in use, older is ignored.
All I can think of is that you might check in Synaptic to make sure uswsusp is installed.
Try the following ..
grub rescue > ls
(hd0) (hd0,msdos5) (hd0,msdos3) (hd0,msdos2) (hd0,msdos1) (hd1) (hd1,msdos1)
grub rescue > ls (hd0,msdos1) # try to recognize which partition is this
grub...
Not sure if this will work on your setup, but I once had a similar problem and used Control+Alt and the + and - buttons of the number pad to temporarily change the apparent screen size (you will need...
Personal opinions: I really hate icons on a desktop, so I stopped using Gnome when it began looking like Ubuntu.
The virtue of Xfce4 for me is that it can be configured to look like just about...
Treat the data transfer in the same way you'd transfer it to a thumb drive: mount the other computer's file manager (it will be listed under Devices) and you'll see all the files and folders listed...
From an older post, which I copied for my own use (I'd credit the author, but I lost the link):
Try the following
grub rescue > ls
(hd0) (hd0,msdos5) (hd0,msdos3)...
In my case (Xubuntu Core 16.10, very little added software), that is where the Dropbox icon should be. Ever since 16.04 the icon has failed to show properly, and I suspect a simple but obscure...
If it gets together with the Xfce mouse, will it have a litter of phone apps?
I'm afraid I can't help further - my personal experience with this sort of thing doesn't go beyond the straight dpkg --purge. You might try again and add --force-help, but I've never tried that.
You might try the following:
sudo apt-get remove --purge <the official name of the program>
If that doesn't work, you could use the root account by running
sudo -i
followed by your password. ...
Do you have Xorg already?
