[PPC] Re: "iMac G3 for Dummies"

I guess I was unfortunate to get a model with half the expected VRAM, but it was the only one available to me, hrm.
About swap, I did not set a swap partition since I did not have a free partition...

I have not, but wouldn't that force me to have no acceleration at all? Between acceleration-less (3D or 2D) Linux and OS X 10.4.11, I'll keep the latter.

"returning from PROM init" never happened...

I got the machine a few months ago obviously used and with the front feet broken. The CRT makes a weird spring-like noise when turning on and after a while overly dark screens (like a full-on...

Just got alternate Lubuntu 13.04 for powerpc. Amazingly sluggish and not working at all, simply using the file manager causes it to stop responding, and I simply have no idea what's wrong with my...

24 bpp. 16 didn't work (pseudo-halt with garbled or no screen) and 15 isn't supported by DRI. At 24 bpp, there isn't enough VRAM.

If there was only something to X to start properly at 16 bpp, that...

Well.. I finally got the whole Xubuntu package installed and xorg.conf in place.. The system takes a considerably long time to boot (compared to Debian and even OS X 10.4.11), landing me in a login...

The 12.10 mini iso boots fine, but the installation halts after trying to download the release notes, leaving me with an empty purple background.

The latest Debian businesscard ISO boots into the install procedure fine. Is there a mini.iso for 12.10? I can only find a full 700mb ISO.
