Just tried that - doesn't work...
Like I said, no login/password combo seems to be accepted except "ubuntu-mate" as login and password empty, but even this only leads back to the login form...
Yes, 64-bit latest Alpha I got following the link from Distrowatch...
Thanks, I just posted the question there...
"ubuntu-mate" doesn't work - the login screen disappears for a moment, looking like its going to start the live session, but then it only comes back to it...
Either it is a bug, or I don't have...

I downloaded 17.10 Ubuntu Mate Alpha 2, and upon loading it requests a username and password, without it, I can't start the desktop...so does anyone know what I should type in?
Ubuntu Kylin may have some nice things about it, but as soon as read this article...well, see for yourself...:)

No, Docky doesn't disable anything in the system, I even like to use the second dock for some apps I don't keep in Docky that I use only occasionaly, but if I wanted to disable the Gnome dock...
Dash to dock is very usefull, but I stopped using it. Instead, I use Docky in my Ubuntu Gnome setup - even nicer, because it dogdes out of the way if there is a window above it...
Oh, yes you can! I think all Ubuntu flavors come by default with Vi(m) preinstalled (not sure about GVim - which is the GUI version of Vim, but with almost the same functionality), and if you're a Vi...
I think that the "Document Viewer" is actually Evince, which is a quite nice PDF reader, other alternative would be KDE's Okular. With these solutions, you don't get an automatic PDF editor, but you...
Alacarte (or Main Menu) is nice, but it lacks some functionality...A recent article on Dedoimedo.com (http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/gnome-edit-theme.html) is an interesting read about overall...
Thanks, I'm comfortable with that solution, this way I can also set the settings for other programs, not very elegant, though...
Would be nice if there was a GUI solution, too, if someone knows...
It used to be easy to change icons in Gnome 2, but I don't see clearly how to change an icon for an app in Gnome 3...
I installed the Faenza icons, and I would like for instance to change the...

This seems to be a serious problem for probably everybody trying to install Ubuntu and Kubuntu and maybe other flavours, too...
I think that people at Canonical should work harder so these kinds...
It seems that the problem affects not only Kubuntu but Ubuntu as well...
Now I tried to install Ubuntu 16.04 from DVD-rom, but it also gets stuck at "retrieving file 58 of 58"...
Must have...
I tried to uncheck the two boxes at the beginning of the installation (install this software and download updates), but in vain. The installer won't move beyond the point saying "retrieving file 58...
I was hoping it would be Yodeling Yak...:KS
I was very happy when it was announced that 16.04 would have ZFS built-in, but I am wondering if it is of any use on a desktop system...
This solved the issue...thanks...
Yesterday, my ubuntu 16.04 began showing wrong time. On my system it is set to automatic internet time, but it shows 2 hours too much.
How can I fix this?
