    Dont copy the files from windows would be my guess. You probably dont have the registry entries.

    Sorry if you have already been recomended to try this, but have you tried using the wine version in the OP? Mongoose has said a million times that the newer versions have problems with oblivion.

    I recommend not getting a pci card. I dont think there are any pci cards that will run guildwars very well, especially on ubuntu which is usually 2/3 or 1/2 fps wise with games.

    erm, load into your default wm session, ie gnome, kde, xfce.

    If you find gnome/kde is too resource intensive install xfce using synaptics. Search xubuntu desktop and you should find it.

    Did you try the nice 20 command? Starcraft is 2d so it might just be a processor thing.

    If all else fails, get xubuntu! Starcraft runs alot better in xfce.

    You could try setting up a virtual desktop of 640*480 using winecfg.
