Yep, the same desktop as you posted it 1000 times before.
I don't think that this option will boost game performance in 12.04, but in 12.10 it works really good.
That's how I managed to disable the black screen, I just added a simple script to startup applications:
bash -c "xset s noblank; xset s off"
I think "xset s off" only could also do the job...
That's the Nouveau driver, just install the regular Nvidia drivers and it will be fine.
I will get Windows 8 for free but I don't know if I will test it. No need.

No, it's 302. You can see the version of the driver in the Nvidia settings.
Update: Driver 302 is also tearing free. You can find it in the X-Swat PPA...
